From Tahoe to Hood River: How S + A’s Wedding Turned Into the Adventure of a Lifetime
When S + A first reached out, they were planning an intimate micro wedding here in Lake Tahoe. They had already brought together an incredible vendor team—including Peter Paul Films and Emma Wynn Paul Photography—and everything was lining up beautifully. But as the months went on, something wasn’t quite clicking. The vision they originally had started to feel… not quite them. Less adventure, more tradition. And that just didn’t fit who they were as a couple.
Then one day, I got the call. “Would you be willing to drive to Hood River, Oregon instead?” they asked. Before they even finished the sentence, my answer was yes. Absolutely yes.
What followed was weeks of calls, location research, timeline tweaks, and leaning on locals for insight and support. S + A and their families traveled from the opposite side of the country to celebrate in a place none of them had ever seen in person. Peter, Emma, and I made the trip up from Nevada, equally unfamiliar with the terrain but ready to make something unforgettable happen. Every single person at this wedding was experiencing Hood River for the very first time—and that made it all the more magical.
The day before the wedding, I met with S + A in Hood River to scout the ceremony location and walk through the plans. We finalized every last detail together—making sure their day felt true to them. On wedding day, I set up the ceremony overlooking the Columbia River Gorge (one of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen), managed vendor arrivals, helped with guest shuttles, and coordinated a live musician and floral deliveries.
Once vows were exchanged and happy tears were wiped away, I raced over to Gorges Beer Co., where I styled a laid-back cocktail hour followed by a gorgeous family-style reception. The tablescape was simple but elegant, with thoughtful touches that reflected the couple’s style and the natural beauty of the area. Everyone gathered for a shared meal, heartfelt toasts, dancing, and an evening under the stars—with glow sticks, laughter, and zero stress.
What made this wedding so special wasn’t just the setting (though it was stunning). It was the fact that it reflected who S + A really are—adventurous, intentional, and full of heart. They trusted their gut, took a risk, and made a change that gave them a wedding day they’ll never forget. And I feel so lucky I got to be part of it.
