The Magic of N+J’s Wedding: A September Night to Remember at Camp Richardson

They say some things are just meant to be - and that's exactly how it felt from the moment I met N+J. A year before their wedding, I was setting up a rehearsal dinner at a local taproom when they walked in. We struck up a conversation, instantly clicked, and after a few months they had reached back out and hired me to help plan their big day. What followed was a year of collaboration, dreaming, and detailed planning that led to one of the most unforgettable weddings we've ever had the pleasure of pulling off.

The Date: The 21st Night of September

(Yes, you’re already humming the song—we were too.)

Camp Richardson was the perfect canvas for N+J's vision. Not only is the location absolutely stunning, but we also had the unique opportunity to utilize all four of their beautiful venue spaces throughout the evening, each serving a distinct part of the celebration.

The Flow of the Day: A Celebration in Four Acts

  • Ceremony on the Beach:
With the sparkling waters of Lake Tahoe as their backdrop, N+J exchanged vows in front of family and friends during a breathtaking lakeside ceremony. The soft golden hour light, combined with the emotional energy, set the tone for a heartfelt day.

  • Cocktail Hour in the Picnic Area:
Guests moved to the adjacent shaded picnic grove where signature cocktails and small bites were served. It was a relaxed and joyful transition, with laughter, mingling, and music floating through the trees.

  • Dinner at the Boathouse:
Dinner was hosted at the historic Boathouse, where guests enjoyed a cozy, romantic setting with rustic charm and panoramic lake views. Thoughtfully curated tablescapes, delicious food, and heartfelt toasts filled the space with warmth and celebration.

  • Parade to the Great Room:
As night fell, we orchestrated one of the most fun (and logistically challenging!) moments of the night: a lantern-lit and glow-stick-adorned parade through the dark to the Great Room. Guests laughed and danced their way along the path, lighting up the night with joy and sparkle—it truly felt like a scene out of a movie.

  • Cake & Dancing in the Great Room:
The final stop was the Great Room, where the party kicked into high gear. There was cake, there was dancing, and most of all, there was love. The energy was electric and the celebration carried on late into the night.

Planning a Seamless Multi-Venue Event

This wedding was no small feat in terms of logistics. Coordinating movement, lighting, sound, and setup across four distinct spaces at Camp Richardson required meticulous planning and creative problem-solving. But with a year of collaboration, trust, and shared vision with N+J, we were able to bring it all to life seamlessly. It’s a testament to what can happen when great planning meets genuine connection.

This wedding was not only beautiful—it was personal. From our serendipitous meeting at the taproom to dancing under the stars, N+J’s celebration was filled with heart, laughter, and pure magic. It was an honor to be part of their journey, and a joy to bring their dream wedding to life.
